Measure M Additional Information

Posted Date: 10/22/24 (7:20 PM)

Dear Parents & Guardians,

Now that you have received general information in the mail regarding Measure M, this communication is to provide more specific information on where the funding would be used. The following is a partial list of projects that would be addressed.

  • Replace Leaking Roofs
    • 33+ Classrooms/Buildings/Cafeteria – HHS, HMS, Elim, & Merquin
    • Sparks Gym & Strom Gym
  • Replace HVAC Units
    • 21 Classrooms – HHS, Elim, & Merquin
  • Repair/replace unsafe cement pathways and play areas
    • All sites
  • Repair Elim Playground
    • Level ground & install sprinkler system
  • Install All-Weather Track
  • Install Safety Fencing at HMS
  • Install New Student/Pedestrian Cement Pathway
    • From Geer Rd to Transportation Department
    • From Elim to new bus pickup/drop-off
  • Replace Elim Fire Alarm

Although there are other projects on the list, these are the ones with the highest priority.

Fortunately, because the bond can be spread out over multiple years, we are able to assess and prioritize the district’s needs as they arise and would have funding available through Measure M without going to the community in the immediate future for another bond.

All funds raised by Measure M will stay in Hilmar and Stevinson to improve and renovate Hilmar Unified School District facilities and grounds. Measure M funds cannot be used for teacher or admin salaries and other school operating expenses.

Any member of the community that would like to share ideas on improvements to HUSD campuses is welcome to share them at our monthly Board meetings or via email to icjohnson@hilmar.k12.ca.us.

Sincerely,

HUSD Governing Board and HUSD Superintendent
